Newcastle United are interested in signing Juventus defender Nicolo Savona, according to Sky Sports.
Eddie Howe’s side are currently looking to bolster their defence and have drawn up a three-man shortlist.
They are reportedly considering an approach for Juventus centre-back Savona, who enjoyed a breakout season in Serie A in 2024-25.
The 22-year-old made 37 appearances across all competitions last term, bagging two goals and an assist in the process.
He featured in 28 matches in the Serie A, averaging 45 touches, 1.0 tackles, 2.6 ball recoveries, and 1.1 clearances.
But Savona picked up an injury during the FIFA Club World Cup, ruling him out for the next two months.
Newcastle also have an interest in Atalanta centre-back Giorgio Scalvini.
The Italian featured only six times in the Serie A last term due to injury issues, but he has been a key player for Atalanta over the years.
Valencia defender Cesar Tarrega is also an option for Newcastle, who has made 42 senior appearances for the La Liga club so far.
The Magpies made a slow start to the 2025 summer transfer window as they failed to land some of their key targets.
But they wrapped up a stunning £55 million deal for Anthony Eanga from Nottingham Forest and are now aiming to make more additions.
Newcastle recently had a £65m bid rejected for Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike.
They have now pulled out of the race for Ekitike due to the enormous fee needed to sign the striker, leaving Liverpool and Manchester United fighting for his signature.
