Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Galatasaray star Baris Alper Yilmaz.
However, the Magpies face competition from three Premier League rivals for the signature of the 24-year-old.
Eddie Howe’s side have been enjoying an excellent run of form in recent weeks.
Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers was their ninth consecutive success in all competitions.
Alexander Isak was the star performer in that game, scoring goals in either half before Anthony Gordon’s late third to wrap up the win.
Their huge upturn in form means Newcastle have now climbed to fourth in the Premier League standings, with 38 points from 21 matches.
Howe’s men are also on the brink of reaching the Carabao Cup final after beating Arsenal 2-0 in the away leg of the semi-final tie.
They will want to continue their momentum for the remainder of the campaign by signing a few quality players in the 2025 January transfer window.
According to Turkish publication Hurriyet (January 16, Page 15), Newcastle are keen to hire the services of Yilmaz.
But they face competition from West Ham United, Everton and Aston Villa for the young forward.
Brilliant signing
Yilmaz has been a key player for Galatasaray since joining the club in 2021.
He played an instrumental role in 2023-24 to help his side win the Super Lig title.
The Turkey international has also been excellent with his performances this campaign He has already scored 11 goals and registered one assist in 27 appearances across all competitions.
Yilmaz would be a brilliant signing for Newcastle who look in need of reinforcements in attack.
Miguel Almiron is edging closer to leaving St James’ Park. The Paraguayan footballer’s contract is set to expire in 2026, but the Magpies are ready to cash in on him in January.
They are in talks with Atlanta over Almiron’s exit, and a deal is expected to be concluded over the coming days.
