Newcastle United have not added any new players to the squad in the ongoing winter transfer window.
But they are said to be in the market for a left-back as they need a back-up to Lewis Hall.
According to The Athletic, Newcastle have identified Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys as an option.
The 20-year-old has been earning rave reviews in the Belgian Pro League since joining the club in 2024.
He has made 74 appearances across all competitions for the Bruges outfit, with six goals and five assists to his name.
Seys is contracted with Club Brugge until 2029, but a lucrative proposal could tempt them to sell their prized asset.
Toulouse defender Dayann Methalie is also reportedly an option for Newcastle.
Methalie appears to be one of the best young talents in Europe.
After impressing with his performances for Toulouse’s youth teams, the 19-year-old has now made 17 senior appearances.
But Methalie has undergone knee surgery that is set to keep him out for a month.
It remains to be seen whether Newcastle make a concrete move for the youngster before the end of the winter window.
The Magpies can also decide to bring Matt Targett back to St James’ Park.
The 30-year-old, whose contract with Newcastle will expire in May 2026, joined Championship side Middlesbrough on a season-long loan last summer.
But the Tyneside club have the option to recall the experienced defender.
Eddie Howe’s side have been inconsistent with their performances in the Premier League this season.
They sit ninth in the league standings after winning nine and losing eight of their 23 matches.
But they have been relatively better in the Champions League, where they are seventh in the table before Wednesday’s crucial away clash at Paris Saint-Germain.
